Capture the essence of your summer camping or hiking trips in not the photos you take but the frames in which you display your photos. This easy twig photo frame project can be made with materials you gather on your vacation. Alternatively, glue stones or seashells onto a ready-made frame if your vacationing takes you to the beach. Or, decoupage pressed flowers and leaves onto a frame.

Save on materials while you save your pennies. From time to time I like to head over to Novica for some out-of-the-box thinking from artisans from around the world, like this piggy bank made from a used aluminum bottle that’s created by the artist Luitpol. While Novica doesn’t have a recycled goods category per se, simply search for “recycle” in the Keyword Search box at the top of the page.

Tiffany Threadgould, founder of Replayground, is featured in a segment of the one-hour special on Fine Living, It’s Easy Being Green. In just over three minutes you’ll see how Tiffany comes up with ideas for her recycled furnishings and accessories. Sitting in her home with a pile of unwanted computer keyboards in front of her, she says it well: “Basically I deconstruct things before I reconstruct them.”

Craftster Theperilouspopsicle had no worries that she’d arrive at prom wearing the same dress as another girl. After all, no one else would think to construct a rainbow-colored frock made from 101 Skittles wrappers (my tummy aches just thinking about it). See more photos of her impressive project, which was chosen as a Craftster featured project, here.
