The Many Uses For Spaghetti Jars

September 9, 2008 by robyn charles

The one thing I have in spades in my house (besides yarn and scrapbooking items, which don’t count) is spaghetti jars. We eat pasta at least twice a week, and despite my Italian heritage I have yet to learn to make the sauce for myself (my mother just cursed out loud, I guarantee it). Because of this, we’re forever trying to reuse our jars.

The folks over at Re-Nest posed the question to their readers, what do you do with your old jars? And there were some GREAT answers! Ribbon, string, or other craft supply storage was on the list, but my favorite reader suggestion was frosting the glass and then using it as lanterns in the garden.

What are some ways you can think of to reuse spaghetti jars creatively?!

Add to the re-use factor and find some pictures of your family or magazine pictures you love, mod podge them on, seal after dried and use for short flower containers. If you have enough, this would be a wonderful project for holiday gifts for family. Especially if you print out some pictures of family on regular paper.

I save and re-use them to store sauces and soups. I also use them to put my crafts in. I like to make wire wrapped stones, and well make a huge batch at a time. I scoop them into the jars. I also store my polymer clay beads in them, buttons, findings…etc. They also make a last minute vase for childrens flowers.

I use old spaghetti and other glass jars for things like beans and nuts and sea salt storage. But I also really like the idea of decorating them and using them as lanterns and vases.

I just use them for glasses. the whole mason jar look is amazing. I never understood why glasses and flatware had to match.
