Paint samples can be such a fun recycled element to craft with. I thought I’d try die cutting one my favorite alphabet set by Leonie Pujol to make a bookmark.
Paint samples come in lots of different sizes and shapes that include different amounts of colors on each swatch. I chose one that had 4 colors as I wanted to do the word “read” (I also considered my name “Stef” but thought read was cuter.
I simply taped each die in place face down in the colored square and ran it through Crafter’s Companion Gemini Die Cutting machine.
Next I pealed the backing paper off of some clear contact paper and taped it down with the sticky side up.
I then placed the die cut paint sample onto the sticky surface.
Using a pair of fine tipped tweezers I placed the center areas of the die cut onto the stick surface. I also place back into the die cut area the small letters.
I then placed another layer of clear contact paper over the paint swatch and burnished it.
After trimming up the edges and punching a hole in the top I added a bunch of pretty coordinating yarn through the hole to make a tassel.
