Every summer I like to get new flip flops and of course that means new opportunities to embellish them. Duck tape is the perfect material as it holds up so well to the elements. And it die cuts like a dream. To make these flowers I used 3 of the shapes of the Die’sire flower dies– Petal, Lace Flower and Sweet William.
I simply cut a piece of duct tape to the length of the die and folded it in half lengthwise. Then ran it through the Crafter’s Companion Gemini Die Cutting machine.
Next I threaded a bead with a 10 inch length of wire half way and twisted it to make a handle and then to use it to wrap around the strap of the flip-flop.
Beginning with the die cut strip that has the little stamen shape (Lace Flower) I hot glued the strip around the bead.
I continued wrapping with 3 different colors and shapes of petals.
I used a different order for each flip-flop just to mix things up!
All that is left to do is wrap the wire around the strap of the flip-flop.
I highly recommend die cutting some duck tape flowers and embellishing a new pair of flip-flops for some summer fun!
