Spray Paint Makeover Magic: How a Wicker Table (and My Chairs!) Got a New Life

Let’s talk about wicker. You know the kind—sturdy, vintage-y, maybe a little faded and forgotten in the back of a garage (like the chairs I “rescued” from my mum’s). I recently stumbled across this great tutorial from Our Southern Home on how to easily spray paint a wicker table, and I couldn’t help but nod along the whole time—because I’ve been there, paint can in hand!

This blog post walks you through everything you need to know to revive wicker furniture without fuss. The best part? It really is easy. No complicated prep work, no fancy tools—just a good clean, some painter’s tape if needed, and the magic of spray paint.

When I tackled my own project—those two dusty old chairs from my mum’s garage—I figured I’d give them a cute little refresh for my back patio. But wouldn’t you know it, once they were painted and pretty, she wanted them back! ? That’s the power of a good wicker makeover.

Back to the article—it’s full of helpful tips, like which kind of paint to use (outdoor spray paint with built-in primer is key), how to get full coverage, and even when and where to paint for best results. There are also great before-and-after shots that make you want to head straight to the garage and dig out forgotten treasures.

If you’ve got an old wicker table, chair, or even a plant stand hanging around, give this tutorial a look. Trust me, it’s amazing what a couple coats of paint can do. Your outdoor space (and possibly your mum) will thank you.
