Giveaway: Fiskars Duck Edition Scissors and Craft Books

August 5, 2014 by Stefanie Girard

Fiskars duck scissors 100 ribbon embellishmentsWe have a great giveaway that features 2 pairs of Fiskars Duck Edition Scissors and copies of the books How to Make 100 Ribbon Embellishments: Trims, Rosettes, Sculptures, and Baubles for Fashion, Decor, and Crafts and The Book Art Studio Handbook.

Leave a comment in today’s post by Thursday August 14th , 2014 and you will be in the running for this scissor and book giveaway. Open to U.S. residents only please.

Now Duck tape is essentially sticky ribbon so I went to my copy of How to Make 100 Ribbon Embellishments for a bit of inspiration being that just about everything in the book I bet could be made with Duck tape beautifully.

This page that features a tutorial on how to make Mix and Match ribbon fringe gave me the idea to make mix and match Duck tape pennant banners to dress up my Airstream for summer.

Here they are a bit closer.

They were so easy and fun to make.

Aside from a variety of Duck tape all you need are straws and string. Simply cut strips of Duck tape about 10 inches long.

Place the straw on the center of the tape.

Fold the tape over the straw back onto itself.

Cut a “V” in the end of the pennant.

To add a center stripe either use the thin Duck tape or cut strips thin. Cut a “V” in the end and place on the larger base pennant.

Trim the straws down to the size you would like the spacing of the pennants to be and thread them onto a string. I used some wire to make a “needle”. A friend told me that when they hang all the flags on a boat it is called “full dress” so my Airstream is now in “Full Dress”.

I have been eye-balling Fiskars scissors for Duck tape. I am so happy that there is such a product. I work with kids & cutting duck tape is rough & has to be done by an adult, most of the time. It would be great to acquire these items. Thanks!
