February 20, 2015 by Stefanie Girard

Craftcation 2015 CraftsideI have been attending Craftcation for years and I can personally attest to how amazing it is! You spend the days surrounded by like-minded creatives learning all sorts of new things to help you be more creative and business savvy.

What is Craftcation?

Craftcation is an annual four day business + makers conference featuring industry professionals leading attendees in hands-on food & craft workshops and lectures and panels on creative business. Craftcation ignites the entrepreneurial spirit, strengthens craft and business skills and builds relationships in the creative community. Previous events garnered extensive press in media including the Wall Street Journal, Sunset Magazine, the Los Angeles Times, National Public Radio, the San Francisco Chronicle, Bust Magazine, Forbes, NBC and the OC Weekly. Get a glimpse at previous conferences here.

Where does Craftcation take place?

Craftcation takes place in the beach town of Ventura, California (about an hour north of Los Angeles). Most workshops and events are at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Craftcation also utilizes Ventura’s historic downtown buildings and businesses as well as the beach for special events like networking meet & greets, cocktail socials, a pop-up shop, opening celebration, yoga and food and art tours.

When is the next Craftcation?

Craftcation 2015 is March 26-29, 2015.

    this sounds so exciting!
I live in the Washington, DC area and would love to participate in a Craftcation closer to my
home. How can I find out where your next one will be located? I would love to put in a vote for having you next one on the east coast.
Thanks for listening. Let me know

Handmade with a Past: Tuesday’s Top Recycled Etsy Find

If you’re anything like me, you’ve got a stack of old vinyl records lying around, maybe from your parents’ collection or that time you bought a crate of random records at a garage sale. Well, here’s a genius way to breathe new life into those vintage treasures: this recycled long-play record art piece. It’s not just a nod to the past; it’s a way to keep it alive in a modern, stylish form.

I’ve always loved the tactile feel of a record and the ritual of playing one—there’s just something special about it. So when I found these upcycled records turned into artwork, I instantly thought about how cool it would be to give a second life to my own collection (which is currently collecting dust in the attic). It’s like the record is back from its own time-travel journey, with a fresh purpose and a whole new vibe.

Whether you’re a music lover or just someone who appreciates unique, eco-friendly art, this recycled record will be a conversation starter in your home. Plus, it’s an awesome way to keep the nostalgia alive without cluttering your space.

Why it rocks:

  • Crafted from recycled long-play records

  • A nostalgic, eco-friendly art piece for your walls

  • Perfect for music lovers, retro enthusiasts, or anyone looking to add character to their home decor

Give your old records a chance to shine again, all while adding some sustainable flair to your living room.
