Although the Day of the Dead celebrates the lives of those who are no longer with us, Kathy suggests creating a shrine for anyone special in your life. Cigar boxes also provide a good starting point, and — even though you may be honoring someone who has passed away — color your shrines in festive colors in true Mexican style.

  1. I ran across the Crafty Chica book at Michael’s in San Antonio, Tx last year. I loved the ideas. This one about the tin shrine has inspired me!! I lost my mother in 2001 in an automobil accident. I miss her terribly! This is one I am most definitely going to do. I’m thinking about maybe making one for each of my sisters.
