Candy corn stacked shadow box Halloween decoration

September 27, 2017 by Stefanie Girard

Candy corns are one of my all time favorite decorating themes for Halloween. Do you remember last year’s Candy corn pedestal lights? This year I decided to make stacked shadow boxes painted in each of the colors of a candy corn with Testors spray paint and Craft brush on paint out of recycled photo frames and boxes.

This project is super easy to make. Simply gather up a bunch of old frames and boxes in three sizes along with orange, white, and yellow Testors spray paint and craft paint. I liked working with both as I wanted the variety of shades.

Paint each of the frames in the color the size calls for.

Then to add a bit of sparkle add a coat of Testors Glitter paint and Glitter Sealer.

For the second candy corn I hand painted each frame using Testors Craft paint.

To secure the stacked frames I added a bit of hot glue in between each and then had a ton of fun filling them with all my little Halloween decorations, cookie cutters, skull glasses, etc. I added some printed scrapbook paper to the back of the orange frames and used plain white for the white frames.

I highly recommend this project as it was kind of like setting up and decorating a Christmas tree only with a total Halloween theme!

A Swoon for a Spoon: My Thoughts on Sadie Seasongoods’ Cameo Pendants

Okay, so let me just say, I’m obsessed with these spoon cameo pendants from Sadie Seasongoods! If you’re into unique jewelry that has a vintage vibe, but with a modern twist, then you have to check these out. Seriously, I’ve been wearing mine non-stop, and every time I do, someone asks where I got it from. It’s definitely become one of those signature pieces for me.

If you’re wondering what exactly a spoon cameo pendant is, let me explain. Sadie Seasongoods takes actual spoons and transforms them into these beautiful pendants. Yes, you read that right—spoons! They’re upcycled, which is such a cool idea, and the designs feature intricate cameos. The mix of the shiny metal and the detailed artwork gives it such a timeless, charming look. Plus, each one feels totally one-of-a-kind.

I don’t know about you, but I love accessories that can make a statement. These spoons have this vintage charm to them—think retro with a little bit of modern edge. The cameos on the spoons range from cute florals to more abstract patterns. Each pendant feels like a piece of art, and you can tell a lot of care went into crafting them. You can see the full tutorial here.
