Bellingham Recycled Art Show

September 12, 2007 by Alissa

bham-reart-stack.jpgHere’s another show for folks in the Pacific Northwest …

The sixth annual 2007 RE Art Recycled Art Exhibition will take place Oct. 5-27 in three locations in Bellingham, Wash. The Allied Arts of Whatcom County Gallery will feature the work of professional and semi-professional artists. The RE Store gallery will focus on art submitted from the young people. And the W.W.U. Viking Gallery will show pieces from higher education students (Western Washington University, Whatcom Community College, Bellingham Technical College and Skagit Community College) with an emphasis on both art and industrial design. There’s room for fashion, too! A Haute Trash Fashion Show runway performance will take place Oct. 20.

According to the site, “Submitted work may be reasonably considered “recycled art” if it is entirely, or primarily, composed of material(s) that would have otherwise been disposed into the waste streams. This can also include fashion apparel items and accessories, as well as functional items that fall into the realm of industrial design.” Deadline for submission is Sept. 21.

See RE Store’s website for details on the show as well as their unique stores.

(Shown is Robert Zverina’s “1,000 Flattened Can Spiral” from a previous RE Art show.)

Crafting the Fourth: Mason Jar Magic with My Cricut

Looking for an easy yet eye-catching way to add a little patriotic charm to your 4th of July decor? This Stars & Stripes Mason Jar Cricut Craft from CraftBits is a festive and fun project that’s perfect for crafters with a Cricut machine on hand.

This DIY features classic red, white, and blue vinyl elements—think stars, stripes, and all the Americana vibes—applied to a simple mason jar. The beauty of this craft is how versatile it is. Whether you’re using it as a lantern with a tea light, a utensil holder for your backyard BBQ, or even a candy jar for your holiday table, it’s a great way to add a personal, handmade touch to your celebration.

We also love how quick and beginner-friendly this project is, making it ideal for anyone looking to create something festive without committing to an all-day crafting session. The clean design means you can easily personalize it with names, dates, or different color combinations too.

This craft is also featured on our sister site, [insert blog name if you’d like], where we highlight holiday Cricut crafts and patriotic decor ideas. Be sure to check it out if you’re building your 4th of July craft list!
