Techno Bloom Flower

If you’re like me and love to decorate in aluminum, nickel, steel — in short, anything silver-colored — this industrial chic junk box flower (designed by photozz) made from used floppy disks, a dead hard drive and a floppy drive makes the perfect desk accessory. If you’re also like me and haven’t a clue when you last used a floppy, try looking in the closets at the office or asking your favorite IT guy (he or she would likely be thrilled to give the parts away).

Ironically, the most complicated step of this tutorial, found at Instructables, is the destruction of the computer parts. Gloves, wrenches, pliers and safety glasses are required — as is a dose of elbow grease. The construction of the flower involves wire, glue and a skilled hand.

Perhaps everyone’s favorite part of the project: no watering required.
