For the avid sewers in the group, you’ll know what “selvedge” is. For the rest of us selvedge is the extra edge on fabric that is technically finished, but does not carry with it the pattern from the remainder of the fabric. Often this is simply cut off and tossed aside, but the thrifty crafter knows this can be re-purposed.

In the case of crafter Miriam, this selvedge became a gorgeous scarf, knit on huge needles and accented with black yarn to tie the whole thing together. Brilliant!
