Junk Mail Dress

November 14, 2007 |

junkmailsm.jpgIt’s hard to believe this beautiful ensemble is made primarily from junk mail. And that the artist who created it, Nancy Judd, has created outfits equally as stunning from rusty nails, newspapers, tin cans and Target shopping bags. Judd, who operates Recycled Runway, is an environmentalist, artist, recycling consultant and educator.

Her web bio reads: “While working as the Recycling Coordinator for the City of Santa Fe and then as the Executive Director of the New Mexico Recycling Coalition, Judd recognized that art and fashion could be used to raise the consciousness of the public in a fun and environmentally-friendly way.”

Her work can be found across the country, but if you fly into the Albuquerque International Sunport (airport) now through Jan. 16, you’ll get to see a collection of her work in her inaugural airport exhibit.
