Garth of the blog Extreme Craft posted this super funny and way cool CHEW-BOX-A! I don’t know about you but I grew up playing with cardboard boxes. Refrigerator boxes held endless possibilities and could take you on many adventures. I dare you to give one to a kid and see what they do with it!

A Compendium of Suitcase Re-do’s

Jennifer Perkins of the fabulously colorful blog Naughty Secretary Club, has put together an amazing post of all sorts of ways to reuse, remake and all together enjoy old suitcases. They are a wonderful way to store stuff but I haven’t taken the plunge myself and used them to display things or incorporate them into my home decor. She offers up a whole host of ideas she has collected from a bunch of great sources including this innovative way to display jewelry designed by Kelly Ferrell. Recycle Family Slides into a Modern Lamp Shade

If you know what these are than you probably have them in your family attic somewhere. My parents are currently learning how to use the equipment to convert them into digital images and then the slides will be winging their way to me to craft with and this is so on my to-do list! Steven James designed this cool slide lampshade for ReadyMade and the full directions are posted there.

Tiles Gone Wild: New Directions In Mixed Media Mosaics by Chrissie Grace is such a fun exploration into using just about everything you can put your hands on and using it in a new way to make fabulous mosaic projects.

I made a mold for casting bricks out of aluminum flashing and I impressed words into them but as I was flipping though this book Chrissie has a fabulous project for adding mosaic work to the top of store bought bricks. I know it’s the simple things, but I just never thought of it! She has projects that include using broken dishes, bottle caps and broken glass. All of her projects include fabulous step by step instruction with great photos to guide you along your own creative trail. There are projects for indoors and out. There are also some great instructions for working with photos and computer designs in addition to working on flat surfaces and dimensional. If you are looking to recycle some broken stuff you have been keeping around, this book is packed full of way s you can make it into something new and fabulous.

A painting gets “turned” into a table

Over at the Storque they posted a whole house full of great ideas for reusing found things. This was my absolute favorite, a picture used as a table. It sounds simple but, wow! I really thought it looked unusual and great. See knobs, skies, floor tile and more repurposed in fabulous ways!

Studiomama has done an outstanding job recycling a pallet into an excellent looking chair. I really admire a design that turns something particularly ugly like a pallet into something not only functional but also elevates it into a style category.

Rekindle Me

Sharon from Rekindle Me puts her folk-arty flair on flea market finds, including used furniture and home accent pieces, and sells the one-of-a-kind works at craft shows, at a local store and on her website, www.rekindleme.com. Her Autumn’s Falling Leaves Chair, shown, reminds us of one of the most beloved seasons.
She writes in her About Us section:

“A few years ago, I found an old cabinet in a flea market and decided it would be the perfect piece to paint and put in our house. We needed a place to store cds and dvds, and the cabinet needed TLC. As I worked on the desert scene which would soon encompass the cabinet, I decided this was a great way to spend my time! This was my new hobby â€“ getting my hands on anything that needed to be rekindled and seeing what would happen next.”

While you may not be able to craft Frank Gehry’s award-winning, high-design Wiggle Chair (retail $875, shown), I found a few sites that offer tutorials and ideas to get you started:
