I have the first book: Generation T and if this one is as good I will just have to have it. Over at Cut Out and Keep they are having a contest to win one. I will definitely be entering because I cut up and recycle t-shirts all the time.

Christy’s Craft Challenge

Looking for a great way to expand your crafting brain power? Want to get into the whole “recycled crafts” thing, but don’t have any crafts to recycle? Christy’s Craft Challenge is for you!

I was contacted by Christy, who explained to me this great idea she’s got going on, and the growing community surrounding it. Via Etsy, you sign up for a one-month craft challenge. You’ll receive a manilla envelope full of goodies, as well as full instructions for completing the month’s challenge.

Your job? To use ALL the items in the envelope, along with any other craft supplies you may have laying around (but you can’t go out and purchase new!), and then submit a photo of your final creation to the Flickr group. There’s a deadline for this, and the group as a whole votes on the “best” creation!

The winner gets the next month’s challenge for free, as well as another, top secret prize!

February’s challenge was making a fat quarter handbag, and March’s challenge is about to begin! Hurry and get signed up before you have to wait another month to get in on the fun!

Recycle The Holidays On Dabbled

The Naughty Secretary Club Book – Review and Giveaway!

I’m always on the lookout for craft books that emphasize reusing and recycling unique materials, so when Jennifer Perkins, not only the writer of Craft Artist Life here at Craft Gossip, but also owner of the Naughty Secretary Club shop, told the world that she’d written a book, I couldn’t wait for it to come out. I have to say, I was overwhelmed with how good it is!

From cover to cover, this book has not only great supply lists and directions on jewelry-making, it’s chock-full of ideas for re-purposing great everyday finds. Some of my favorite projects include using vintage neckties for both headbands and pins … I’ve got a huge obsession for vintage ties!

While Jennifer’s jewelry style is much bigger than mine (literally. I tend to wear teenie tiny pieces), the book has quickly taken up a prominent spot on my bookshelf because her jewelry-making instructions are some of the best I’ve read. She clearly and simply explains how to use found items in your baubles, making your accessories completely unique and easy to make!

And because I love it so much, I wanted to give you all a chance to love it to! Instructables Book Contest

Here’s your chance to be published! The Best of Instructables Volume I will be published this fall and more than 100 Instructables will be in it. Visitors to Instructables.com will be able to vote on the tutorials that should be published — plus, you’ll be able to enter your own submission. Given the fact that a good chunk of the tutorials found on Instructables lean toward the techie side, submissions featuring fashion, home accessories or other pretty crafty things may appear as big fish in a small pond. Recycled T-Shirt Contest

One of the current Instructables contests is the T-Shirt Hacks Speed Contest. The official rules: “Have some old or boring t-shirts lying around? Then use them for your next DIY project! Cut ‘em, sew ‘em, dye ‘em, print on ‘em, add electronics, or decorate ‘em with LEDs, googley eyes, and fringe — whatever you need to make them fabulous.” Upload your project photos and instructions to the Instructables site by April 6 and you may win some cool prizes, including a custom laser-cut stencil.
